Place Pobéguin56480 CLEGUERECFRANCE
This monument was erected in memory of Marshall Pobeguin, who was told to open new roads through the Sahara and died there. The statue is one of the sixteen versions known in France of the statue of Liberty. Just like the model of M. BARTHOLDI, it represents a woman wearing a toga, brandishing a torch in her right hand and tablets with her left hand. This version was cast in 1875, ten years before her big sister was made in New-York .
