At nightfall, at 10.30pm every summer for almost 30 years, the Abbey of Bon Repos has become, for a few nights, the theatre of a reconstruction tracing the history of Central Brittany.
To tell the story certain sites in the region were chosen. The covered alleys of Liscuis, the old Roman road from Rennes to Carhaix, Castel Finans (the castle of Conomor, built on the banks of the Blavet), the Cistercian Abbey of Bon Repos and the canal from Nantes to Brest.
A historical fresco that, for two hours, occupies a stage of 2 hectares with, in the background, the facade of the Abbey. On one side of the scene is a Gallic village and on the other side, the castle of Conomor.
Thousands of costumes, sets and props, floats, wagons, carts and carriages, designed, created and constructed. 350 extras, 25 horses, farm animals participate in this impressive spectacle- that has already transported more than 200 000 spectators from the Neolithic period to the revolution. An unforgettable journey to the far reaches of history.
Punctuated by a haunting musical band and pyrotechnic effects, illustrated by the projection of giant images on the facade of the Abbey, the show takes you on a breathtaking, emotion-filled journey where the unexpected awaits you.
A show written and directed by Jean-Paul Denmat.
